Storytelling has been central to my nearly twenty-year career in the tech industry, where I’ve worked as a product designer at companies including Google, Nest, SoFi, and Adidas. In many ways, my career as a software designer mirrors the writing process: my work centers on developing systems and rules, architecting narrative threads, and deeply empathizing with users who interact with the products I design. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, I’ve developed a custom design curriculum focused on pair designing with artificial intelligence. Additionally, I regularly speak and teach workshops at global design conferences.

My journey into writing has been unusual; I started writing during the pandemic, in Google Keep, while my toddlers napped. My knowledge of craft began with reading craft books and taking writing classes at night. It’s been a slow build, but writing has come to feel like the career I should have been doing all along.
